Earthquake Emergency Response 2010

The destructive power of the Haitian earthquake in January 2010 left 250,000 dead and vast numbers homeless. Millions lived in camps and make-shift shelters leaving a legacy of the need for ongoing long term medical assistance.

With an immediate response, AAI supported its major international partner by sending a Disaster Assessment and Response Team and was able to provide much needed medical supplies and logistics to over-stretched hospitals and medical clinics throughout Haiti.

AAI conducted disaster assessments in and around Port-au-Prince. AAI focused on those areas which had not received adequate medical assistance or which have been neglected because of difficult terrain or environment.
