Welcome to the November edition of the AAI eNews!

It’s been a busy few months for AAI with personnel working in flood-affected Thatta District in Pakistan. Amongst others, Frank Tyler, Gavin Humphries and Josie Luppi have been conducting medical clinics for communities that have limited access to local health services.

This month we begin an exciting new education project in the Hway Ka Loke School in Mae Sot on the Thai/Burma border. This program will give AAI volunteers the opportunity to spend a month teaching English to refugee children.

You can find out more about our exciting projects and meet our volunteers at the upcoming Information Session on Wednesday 24 November at 6pm at the South Melbourne Town Hall. To find out more click here or read more in the articles below.

Pakistan Update

AAI responded to the Pakistan Flood crisis in early September 2010. AAI has focussed on the provision of much needed outreach and mobile medical clinics as well as public health initiatives as part of the initial emergency flood relief in the Sindh province. AAI has treated many people, including eight-year-old Razia.

Josie in Pakistan

Josie Luppi is a first-time volunteer nurse working with AAI on its current Pakistan Operations. Here Josie gives us her impressions of working in this complex and challenging environment.

In mid-November AAI will commence its Volunteer English Teacher’s Program in Mae Sot on the Thai/Burma border. Program Co-ordinator Erin Atherton tells us about this exciting new project.
