Marc Preston

Marc is a qualified lawyer with over 20 years commercial experience gained as a legal practitioner and in various corporate appointments. He also acts as a Crisis Practitioner and has assisted government instrumentalities and corporations in implementing crisis management strategies. Marc has traveled extensively throughout the Asia Pacific region and has been involved in emergency and humanitarian responses in Nias Island and Java Indonesia, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Timor-Leste. Having seen the need for a NGO that provides specialised and community based primary health care programs that can have a marked impact on the number of people presenting for secondary level health care, Marc set out with Frank Tyler to create such an organisation. Marc is also a keen adventurer and is active in scuba diving, rock climbing and marathon canoeing having completed a number of Red Cross Murray River Marathons. |
Frank Tyler

Frank has been involved in humanitarian operations for over 15 years in numerous disaster and conflict zones around the world including the Middle East, Balkans, Africa and South East Asia. Frank believes that by bringing together like-minded people to implement quality relief programs, AAI can achieve his vision of sustainable long-term solutions in disaster affected areas. Frank's experience ranges from emergency relief to post conflict development in both natural and manmade disasters. He is well known for establishing successful relief programs in some of the most remote and dangerous regions in the world. Frank has a Masters of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, Bachelor of Health Science Nursing, Certificates in Aviation, Underwater Medicine Training, and Assessment and a Diploma in Building Surveying. He is also a keen adventurer. |

Marina Tyler

Marina has a post graduate degree in International Social Development and is currently completing a Masters degree in Forced Migration, Asylum and Refugees. In 1999, Marina worked with the Kosovar refugees in Northern Albania and later in the capacity of Psychosocial Manager in Tirana. In 2005, she worked as a Program Support and Information Officer in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. She has also been involved with Burmese refugees on the Thai-Burma border. Marina assists AAI with program development and proposal preparation. Marina is also responsible for managing the volunteer database and preparing volunteer HR documents. |
Dr Larry Stock

Larry Stock MD, FACEP is an American Emergency Medicine Physician with over ten years of humanitarian experience. Larry is an Emergency Medicine specialist with extensive experience teaching and training Emergency Field Medicine. Larry is indefatigable, and has been, and will continue to be integral to AAI's medical response to disasters. Larry also sits on the American Board of Emergency Medicine, is a Clinical Associate Professor at the UCLA School of Medicine, is an Assistant Medical Director of the Emergency Department, Antelope Valley Hospital and is an Attending Physician, Emergency Department, Harbor UCLA Medical Center. |
Dominic Bowen

Dominic Bowen provides a clear and insightful perspective to AAI operations and has been instrumental in establishing strong links with various government agencies in Australia, Pakistan, Indonesia and the United Nations. Whilst validating AAI's work in Kashmir in 2005, Dominic also provided important reportage to co-coordinating authorities within the region and overseas. He was the Country Coordinator for AAI's Indonesian Operations in August and September 2006 whilst many rehabilative and reconstruction projects were being undertaken. Throughout 2006 and 2007, he has also assisted with the training and development of government employees in various third world countries, including the Kingdom of Tonga, the Solomon Islands and Iraq. |
Nathan Mullins

Nathan has been an integral part of AAI's Emergency Response Team since the beginning. He carried out paramedic and team leader roles for AAI's emergency projects in Pakistan in 2005 and East Timor in 2006. On both operations Nathan was responsible for leading small teams of medical personnel in very arduous and often dangerous conditions. Nathan is motivated by the sharp disparity of our lives in the developed world and the lives of those living in less fortunate conditions, and the compounding effects of those conditions during emergency situations. Nathan now works full-time as AAI's International Program Manager. |
Paul Piaia
Public Relations Officer & Information Technician

Paul is a full time Cartographer for Lonely Planet Publications and was part of the early Emergency Response Team to Pakistan in 2005 and East Timor in 2006. Paul was responsible for compiling village assessments, drawing maps of the area and helping the doctors and medics with general first aid. Paul now volunteers his time tirelessly in promotion and media liason duties and is the designer of AAI's website. AKA the Scorpion... |
James Judge
Deputy Director of Operations

James is a full time public servant with the Commonwealth Government in Australia. He is responsible for developing and maintaining AAI's policies and procedures and provides a valuable insight into all of AAI's operational decisions. In January 2005 he volunteered in Banda Aceh as part of the Tsunami relief effort. James also managed AAI's emergency shelter program in Kashmir, Pakistan during the start of the Himalyan Winter in 2006 and Java, Indonesia again in 2006. |
Ahmed Saeed

Ahmed is an Australian – Pakistani from Perth. Ahmed's initial career was in the Pakistan Air Force as a Commissioned Officer in the Engineering Branch. The Air Force career provided him with an Engineering Degree. He took an early retirement after 10 years of meritorious service to work in the private sector. Ahmed completed his MBA and for the past 11 years works in the Oil & Gas Industry as a specialist in HSE Management in general and a Crisis Manager in particular. He is currently employed as “Corporate Safety Manager” for ENI (an Italian Oil & Gas Company) in their Kazakhstan operations. He is on rotation and spends his off days in Perth with his family. |
