Marc Preston

Marc is a qualified lawyer with over 20 years commercial experience gained as a legal practitioner and in various corporate appointments. He also acts as a Crisis Practitioner and has assisted government instrumentalities and corporations in implementing crisis management strategies. Marc has traveled extensively throughout the Asia Pacific region and has been involved in emergency and humanitarian responses in Nias Island and Java Indonesia, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Timor-Leste. Having seen the need for a NGO that provides specialised and community based primary health care programs that can have a marked impact on the number of people presenting for secondary level health care, Marc set out with Frank Tyler to create such an organisation. Marc is also a keen adventurer and is active in scuba diving, rock climbing and marathon canoeing having completed a number of Red Cross Murray River Marathons. |
Frank Tyler

Frank has been involved in humanitarian operations for over 15 years in numerous disaster and conflict zones around the world including the Middle East, Balkans, Africa and South East Asia. Frank believes that by bringing together like-minded people to implement quality relief programs, AAI can achieve his vision of sustainable long-term solutions in disaster affected areas. Frank's experience ranges from emergency relief to post conflict development in both natural and manmade disasters. He is well known for establishing successful relief programs in some of the most remote and dangerous regions in the world. Frank has a Masters of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, Bachelor of Health Science Nursing, Certificates in Aviation, Underwater Medicine Training, and Assessment and a Diploma in Building Surveying. He is also a keen adventurer. |

Marina Tyler

The Executive Director, Marina Tyler, has a Masters degree in Forced Migration, Asylum and Refugees and a post graduate degree in International Social Development. Marina is a full time public servant with the Australian Department of Immigration working in refugee settlement. She also has a long history in volunteering with Australian community based organisations. Internationally, Marina has worked with a number of NGOs. Marina has worked with the Kosovar refugees in Northern Albania and in Kosovar with the returnees. Marina has also spent a substantial amount of time post Tsunami as a manager in Banda Aceh , Indonesia with a medical aid organisation. She has also been involved with Burmese refugees on the Thai-Burma border and has worked in Thailand on a number of consultancies. |
Dr Larry Stock

Larry Stock MD, FACEP is an American Emergency Medicine Physician with over ten years of humanitarian experience. Larry is an Emergency Medicine specialist with extensive experience teaching and training Emergency Field Medicine. Larry is indefatigable, and has been, and will continue to be integral to AAI's medical response to disasters. Larry also sits on the American Board of Emergency Medicine, is a Clinical Professor at UCLA School of Medicine, is Vice Chairman, Emergency Department, Antelope Valley Hospital and is an Attending Physician, Emergency Department, Harbor UCLA Medical Center. |
Dominic Bowen
Information & Security Manager
Dominic Bowen has a Masters Degree of International Security Studies, focussing particularly on human security in developing nations and conflict areas. He provides a clear and insightful perspective to AAI operations and has been instrumental in establishing strong links with various government and non government agencies. Whilst validating AAI's work in Kashmir in 2005, Dominic also provided important reportage to co-coordinating authorities within the region and overseas. In mid-2006 he was the Country Coordinator for AAI's Indonesian Operations whilst many rehabilative and reconstruction projects were being undertaken. Since then Dominic has been involved in various humanitarian projects in Iraq, Thailand, Tonga, the Solomon Islands, and Timor-Leste. |
Nathan Mullins

The International Program Manager, Nathan Mullins, is a security and training consultant and former police officer, who has spent 3 years in humanitarian operations with AAI. Nathan deployed, as the team leader to Pakistan, Kashmir in response to the South-Asian earthquake in 2006, Timor-Leste crisis in 2006, and the Burma Cyclone in 2008 as part of AAI's Disaster Assessment & Response Team (DART). Nathan has provided security consulting in Iraq, he has worked on the Thai-Burma Boarder in AAI's medical and educational projects and he has worked in Indonesia with AAI's Reconstruction & Disaster Risk Reduction Project. Nathan recently returned from the Burma Cyclone disaster where he headed AAI's emergency response. As International Project Manager Nathan travels extensively between AAI's international operations and Australian headquarters. |
Paul Piaia

Paul is a Project Manager for an Australian IT company and was part of the early Emergency Response Team to Pakistan in 2005 and East Timor in 2006 and 2009. Paul was responsible for compiling village assessments, drawing maps of the area and helping the doctors and medics with general first aid. Paul now volunteers his time tirelessly in promotion and media liason duties and is the designer of AAI's website. AKA the Scorpion... |
James Judge
Deputy Director of Operations

James is a full time public servant with the Commonwealth Government in Australia. He is responsible for developing and maintaining AAI's policies and procedures and provides a valuable insight into all of AAI's operational decisions. In January 2005 he volunteered in Banda Aceh as part of the Tsunami relief effort. James also managed AAI's emergency shelter program in Kashmir, Pakistan during the start of the Himalyan Winter in 2006 and Java, Indonesia again in 2006. |
Tevan Green

Tevan Green, is an experienced Crisis Logistician with over 9 years of experience. He has consulted multiple nations on crisis logistics operations to include tsunami, earthquake, & mudslide relief. Tevan has traveled and conducted crisis logistics operations in multiple counties of the Middle East, Southwest Asia , Southeast Asia, and other Pacific Regions. Tevan has earned a reputation for successful logistics operations in the world's most remote and dangerous locations. He also holds a Master's of Science in Logistics Systems and Administration and a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Spanish. Tevan has a history of volunteering and has been committing his time and efforts to those in need since the age of 16. |
Ahmed Saeed

Ahmed is an Australian – Pakistani from Perth. Ahmed's initial career was in the Pakistan Air Force as a Commissioned Officer in the Engineering Branch. The Air Force career provided him with an Engineering Degree. He took an early retirement after 10 years of meritorious service to work in the private sector. Ahmed completed his MBA and for the past 11 years works in the Oil & Gas Industry as a specialist in HSE Management in general and a Crisis Manager in particular. He is currently employed as “Corporate Safety Manager” for ENI (an Italian Oil & Gas Company) in their Kazakhstan operations. He is on rotation and spends his off days in Perth with his family. |
